GAIL established its training center, GAIL Training Institute (GTI), in the year 1997. Since then, GTI is putting earnest efforts to sharpen the knowledge, skills, aptitude and attitude of not only GAIL employees but also the larger community of Oil & Gas Sector. With the help of the latest technology and resources and by dynamically responding to the ever changing business requirements by regularly launching / updating courses, GTI has always been at the fore front in developing the Human Capital for the industry. I am happy to inform you that GTI, considering the growing need for deployment of digital technology in various business processes of GAIL, has taken a major step to start digitalization of L&D Processes in yesteryear. Now, GTI is capable of conducting all Learning & Development interventions such as organizing Annual Training Calendar (ATC) programs, Annual Knowledge Sharing Programs, New recruits’ orientation, mentoring, other Knowledge dissemination programs, etc. through virtual mode. Also, GTI is accredited as an Authorized Training Provider (ATP) for American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Courses with Authorized Training Instructors within the GAIL fraternity and is regularly conducting such programs based on ASME Codes and Standards. It has been consistently working towards a greater collaboration under the Industry Academia interface and is also collaborating with other Oil sector PSUs for sectoral development. GTI has emphasized the holistic development of employees by focusing on functional, managerial, behavioral & leadership competencies and Role Based Training. In line with this objective, GTI has formulated the Annual Training Calendar for the year 202122, based on Training Need Assessment (TNA) exercise by seeking inputs from concerned employees and in consultation with the work center Incharges. The major thrust of aforesaid Training Plan has been to ensure upskilling and reskilling of employees by providing relevant training for capability building in the identified areas. I congratulate team GTI for bringing out its Annual Training Calendar (2022-23) in a digital mode which presents glimpses of the capabilities of GTI. I hope that the training roster based on ATC will be useful for empowering the employees for their current and future roles. I wish GTI all success in implementation of the Annual Training Calendar programs. I also urge all employees to make the best use of these learning opportunities, which will facilitate the realization of their true potential as a professional.

Message from Executive Director (Training, HR-Policy)
As we know that due to the unprecedented condition of COVID19 pandemic, we are facing complex situations. In spite of such tough challenges, we all have demonstrated our fighting spirit and due to that, we are marching ahead. In today’s turbulent times as the business dynamics is changing very fast, the conventional base of competitive strategy is being increasingly battered. In such an environment, the ability to acquire and disseminate knowledge is an essential prerequisite to success, especially with reference to Oil and Gas business. A good understanding of an emerging paradigm of business, by keeping abreast with the latest development in technology and business becomes the basis, not only for competitive success but also for the corporate survival. Therefore, the domain of Learning and Development (L&D) should be aligned to the changing market dynamics to cope up with the emerging opportunities. This requires new and added dimensions to Knowledge Management. The knowledge management tools can be used as strategic enablers to transform the operation paradigm, aligned with collective intellectual efforts to sustain the business and the organisation. Knowledge management is a complex subject, as it requires a good balance between various facets of human intervention and technological upgradations.
Successful implementation of knowledge management requires a good blend of corporate culture and an ecosystem for creating a learning environment. The idea of knowledge as a public good refers to how knowledge is shared. The point here is that most part of the knowledge is not lost, or is preserved if it is given away. During the execution of numerous mega size projects, we face various challenges which give us great leanings, knowledge enrichment and experience worth sharing. As an institution, our commitment to making knowledge a public good should always remain high. GAIL Training Institute (GTI) is committed towards development of Human Capital not only for GAIL, but also to the larger fraternity of Oil and Gas Sector. GTI provides a full-fledged platform for development of Human Capital by providing Training and other related interventions, organising Knowledge Sharing Seminars, Webinars, Executive Trainee development program, Senior Management Development programs, Mentorship programs, and encouraging GAIL executives to participate in various seminars nationally and globally. Some of the knowledge dissemination saplings, which were planted under Industry Academia collaboration, have now grown big, as GTI has been nurturing them with needful support, to various academic institutions by providing them with Industrial Subject Matter Experts and Guest faculty. Some of the collaborative efforts, which were done in yesteryears, have started bearing fruits, as we moved ahead for organising programs on Natural Gas Pipeline Maintenance in collaboration with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). GTI is accredited by American Society of Mechanical Engineers, as Authorized Training provider for ASME certification programs and is conducting these programs with GAIL’s in house faculty of Authorized Training Instructors, certified by ASME. The training program of GTI on City Gas Distribution (CGD), which was started few years back and was a high demand program , is now in its revised version in alliance with an apex management institutes of the country. The plot plan offers a sandwich training program covering both Technical and Management domain subjects, for the entire CGD fraternity. We now intend to commence these programs for external participants with global outreach.
As we gradually expand into newer areas of technology and business to capture emerging opportunities in different fields which are in line with the future business requirements of the organization. We have started seeding the new areas for potential growth, which are in line with the future business requirements of the organization. GTI has organized training programs in various new domains such as Renewable and Alternate Energy, Water Value Chain, Specialty Chemicals Segment, Mobility Future, Industry 4.0 & Artificial Intelligence in alliance with esteemed institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, National Institute of Wind Energy etc. These programs are paving the way towards new growth trajectory of the organization and thereby for the country as a whole. With the advent of Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, there are some new revolutions in the industries, which will change the business dynamics and these are one of the probable game changers. GAIL Training Institute being the torch bearer in Training and Development, has incorporated such concepts and has started imparting training to its executives in all such areas relating to IoT (Internet of Things), Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning. With Digital Yatra of GAIL a comprehensive digital roadmap is being created to detail out the benefits of IT & IoT that will have an impact on GAIL’s assets.
The Annual Training Calendar (ATC) of 2022-23 has been prepared, seeing the current and future business requirements of the organization. In view of the ongoing pandemic situation, these programs are initially planned to be organized in virtual mode by GTI, till we resume back to the normalcy, post COVID19 impact. We pray almighty to give good health to all of us.
Wishing all the participants a happy learning experience.
