National Skill Development Mission launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi aims to empower the youth of the country with improved skill and knowledge to enhance their employability. To meet this requirement PSUs under Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have set up Skill Development Institutes in various States to impart vocational training to the students. SDI Society, Raebareli promoted by Public Sector Oil Companies namely Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, GAIL (India) Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Engineers India Ltd) and Balmer Lawrie & Company Ltd has established Skill Development Institute (SDI) at Raebareli, UP. It is being operated and managed by GAIL (India) Limited. The temporary campus of SDI, Raebareli has been setup in Uttar Pradesh at Doorbash Nagar, Raebareli and the institute has started functioning from November, 2017. SDI Raebareli has state of the art facilities like Smart Class Rooms, well equipped Workshop, Modern Training Equipment, Computer Lab with Wi-Fi Facility, well equipped Library, Conference Room, Recreation Facilities, and Boarding & Lodging facilities for all the students.

To train and develop workforce for domestic hydrocarbon sector by upgrading technical skills to improve quality, productivity and efficiency in global context.

SDI Society Raebareli's Skill Development Institute, Raebareli is promoted by eight Public Sector Oil Companies, GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Oil India Ltd (OIL), Engineers India Ltd (EIL), Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited.

Presently the SDI, Raebareli offers certificate courses in four trades such as Pipe Fitter - City Gas Distribution (Duration: 3 Months), Pipe Fitter - Oil & Gas (Duration: 6 Months), Industrial Welder (Duration: Six Months) and Process Instrument Technician (Duration: 6 Months).
